Not Just Oranges


Question: 1 – What did the little five-years old girl yearn for?
Answer: The little five-year old girl yearned for a blue ball that she had seen in a toy shop.
Question: 2 – How did Mrs. Malachov react on seeing her vase shattered? (or) How did Mrs. Malachov react when her flower vase was broken?
Answer: The little girl was playing with her blue ball in her courtyard. Once the ball bounced into the window of the Malachov. It broke the costly crystal vase. The old lady cried that they had been robbed.
Question: 3 – What made the girl’s mother give two oranges to Mrs. Malachov?
Answer: The Poor mother was very grateful for her visit. She showed her gratitude. She presented tow huge and famous oranges into her hands. She had no words for Mrs. Malachov’s kindness and sympathy for the girl.
Question: 4 – why did the little girl hide when her mother was not at home. Give two reasons.
Answer: Mrs. Malachov shouted so loudly that the little girl was frightened. She hid in a shed because there was no one to defend her as her mother was not at home.
Question: 5 – Why did Mrs. Malachov not keep the oranges offered by the little girl’s mother? (or) What did Mrs. Malachov do with the oranges, given to her by the girl’s mother?
Answer: The poor mother of the little girl offered Mrs. Malachov two oranges out of gratitude and humility. But Mrs. Malachov did not accept them. She rather put them near the pillow of the sleeping girl. She must have realized their poverty ad helplessness.
Question: 6 – In what way was the flower vase of Malachov’s broke?
Answer: One day the little girl was playing in the courtyard, the ball bounced so fast and so high that it flew into the window of Malachov. The ball hit the vase and broke it into pieces.
Question: 7 – What did the little five year old girl yearn for?
Answer: The little five year old girl went to a toy shop with her mother. There she saw a wonderful blue ball. She greatly like it and strongly desired for it.
Question: 8 – Why did Mrs. Malachov complain that she had been robbed?
Answer: When the little girl was playing with a ball, she bounced it very fast. The ball hit the flower vase. The ball shattered the vase into pieces. So, Mrs. Malachov complained that she had been robbed.
Question: 9 – What made the little girl feel happy? How did her happiness short liked?
Answer: Her mother got the blue ball to her. The little girl was very happy on getting it. The girl was playing with it.  The ball hit the flower vase badly. So her happiness proved short lived.
