The Nation Builders

This short poem of “Ralf Waldo Emerson” is very inspiring and gives us a positive message. He says gold or wealth can not make our nation great. It means money is not a real strength but good and hard working. They have firm determination and suffer long. They work hard and are courageous. These people are like pillars of nation. They give a strong foundation on which the building of a nation can be erected highly. A country may progress only by the powers and qualities of these citizens.

The Perfect Life

The poem “Perfect Life” is composed by “Ben Jonson”. He presents a true picture of the perfect life in his poem. He prefers a short and purposeful life to worthless and long one. According to him a life which is short but gives beauty and happiness to others is the life that counts. On the contrary he says that a life is not useful which is long but it does not do good to others. He gives the examples of an oak tree and a lily. A lily bloom for a day but it spreads fragrance and beauty everywhere. Thus the poet is in fever of short but meaningful life like the life of lily.

The Psalm of Life

The psalm of life, the poem of “H.W. Longfellow” gives us an important message. Life is real not an empty dream mixing into dust, sorrow or enjoyment is not our aim. Our aim is to achieve something big with our hard work. Life is like a battle field in which one should fight like a soldier with courage. We should work hard without caring for results. We should be patient and hard working in order to win battle of life. The proverb “Sweet are the uses of adversity” also supports it.

Fountain

The fountain is an inspiring poem of “J.R. Lowell. It looks beautiful by day and night. It looks bright in the sun and is whiter than snow in the moon light. It never looks tired. Its motion is its rest. In every season it looks happy. It is full of Nature and nobody can tame it. It changes every moment but looks the same. It teaches us that we should keep ourselves fresh and aspiring for higher things. Yet we should be steady and contend.

Lucy Gray

William Wordsworth has beautifully portrayed Lucy Gray and her tragic death. Lucy Gray is lovely and solitary child. She lives with her parents in a lovely forest and she is very obedient to them. Her father asks her to bring her mother back because she has gone to the town but she is caught in an untimely store room and loses her way. Her parents search for her but find her nowhere. They follow her footprints which end at the bridge. They think that she has died. Some people still hold the view that she is still alive. She wanders on lonesome forest and sings a sweet song.

The Song of the free

Reference:
These inspiring lines have been taken from the poem “The Song of the free” composed by “Swami Vivekananda”, a great philosopher, a saint and a poet.
Context:
In these lines he gives a clear message that we should not afraid of death and misfortunes and should achieve our goal. He gives the examples of wounded snake, fire, cloud and heart struck-lion.
Explanation/Central Idea :
The saint-poet Swami ji says that we should always be ready to fight challenges. We should not lose our courage. For example a wounded snake opens its hood and excited fire burn brightly. A wounded lion struck by hunter’s arrow roars loudly. We should not be afraid of death because soul is immortal. Nobody can harm our soul. Why should we fear? We should not be bothered if we lose our beloved, friend, eyes and heart. Misfortune and adversity may come but we should enjoy them. They say every black cloud has a silver lining. We have an immortal soul. We should march on right path to the goal.
